College towns are famous for their colleges while cities are famous for their colleges and more. The additional appreciated aspects of New York City are the restaurants and pastry shops that college students happen to engulf. The Hungarian Pastry Shop of 110th and 111th and Amsterdam Avenue has taken in Columbia University guppies. The quite cozy (medium sized) room of the shop is packed at all time with chatter of studies between teachers and students and Upper West Siders. The busy waitresses announcing names constantly rush in between the neatly placed tables with awareness of computers and lofty stacks of literature. All are welcome to sit down for a pastry and talk; room will always be made. The worth of squeezing in between persons for some coffee and a read is great.
Approach the front counter with an order and your name and within minutes a Chai Latte or hot Tea with a freshly jammed Linzer Tart will present itself. The occasional party of bouncy Upper West Side girls feasting on Hot Chocolates may scoot someone to the side. There vivacious selves will not be bothersome, however, but reminiscent. The atmosphere of the Hungarian Pastry Shop is thick and enriching with an ever more delicious selection of traditional pastries.
